The most succulent lamb chops – mutton chops (meat dependent on your preference) marinated for only 1 hour cooked in a pan. A perfect option if you’re looking for a flavour packed meat dish without the heat of spices.
This dish is easy to make, full of flavour, and perfect for a weeknight dinner with your family.
It’s a healthy protein source
Lamb chops and mutton chops are both excellent sources of protein, which is essential for building and repairing muscles, bones, and tissues. Protein also helps you feel full and satisfied, so you won’t be tempted to snack on unhealthy foods later. Lamb and mutton are also rich in iron, zinc, selenium, and vitamin B12, which support your immune system, metabolism, and nervous system.
What do the lamb chops – mutton chops taste like?
These meat chops taste so herby and tender. The lemon juice tenderizes the meat and adds a zesty flavour. Mutton is a little tougher as a meat and leaner than lamb but is much healthier if you’re looking for a lower calorie and lower fat option.
What should you serve with lamb chops or mutton chops?
One of the best things about this recipe is that you can serve it with a variety of sides, depending on your preference and what you have in your kitchen/pantry. Some of my favourite options are:
- Roasted potatoes and carrots, for a classic and comforting combination.
- A salad (try this delicious superfood salad with feta cheese)
- Couscous and salad, for a light and refreshing meal.
- Rice and lentils, for a hearty and filling dish.
- Naan bread and yogurt, for a spicy and desi South Asian twist.
You can also experiment with different herbs and spices to create your own unique herby/spice flavour. I like to use rosemary, thyme, garlic, salt, and pepper, but you can also try mint, parsley, oregano, cumin, or paprika.
Look at these juicy, herby mutton chops on a superfood salad – yum!
Herbs and crushed garlic on the meat prior to mixing and marinating for 1 hour.

How should I store the lamb chops – mutton chops leftovers?
These lamb chops/mutton chops can be stored for up to 2 days in an air tight container in the fridge. Unfortunately, they don’t freeze well (I’ve tried and they didn’t taste good upon defrosting), so I wouldn’t recommend doing so.
