Equipment

  • 1 Baking tray
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Aluminium foil or baking paper
  • 1 Egg wash brush
  • 1 Small bowl
  • 1 Fork
  • 1 Sieve

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry sheet - shop bought
  • 50 grams Chocolate (you can use any chocolate you like)
  • 1 small Egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tbsp Icing sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to gas mark 4 which is 177 degrees Celsius (°C) and 350 degrees Fahrenheit (°F)
  • Roll out your shop bought puff pasty as per photo 2.
  • Cut triangles using your knife as per photo 3 and break up your chocolate into chunks using your hands and place at near the wider part of each triangle. Cut a tiny slit at the bottom of each triangle. This will help you to pick up the puff pastry for rolling.
  • Roll each triangle into a roll.
  • Place each croissant onto a lined baking tray. Crack open your egg in a bowl and whisk using your fork. Do a light egg wash using your brush on top of each croissant and then pop the tray into the oven.
  • Bake for 15 mins, remove, let the croissants cook down for 2 mins.
  • Dust the croissants with your icing sugar using a sieve. Then enjoy!

Notes

  1. The egg wash gives the croissants a golden colour when baked.
  2. The icing sugar gives a lovely hint of sweetness to the pastry.
